Nicolas Michel who was seised of 1 acre of land in Old Mill Feild in Hornebreach furlong next to the land of Silvester Claver west died since the last court. Robert Michel is his son [=brother] and nearest heir and sought admission. Rent 3d, fine 2s.

[f.5v] Thomas Spooner and Bridget his wife surrendered a messuage in Winslow which was lately surrendered by John Shelton to Thomas' use. To the use of Thomas Grant, on condition that the surrender will be void if Thomas Spooner pays him £59 at Thomas Grant's dwelling house in Winslow: 30s on 19 Nov next, 19 May and 19 Nov 1667 and 19 Nov 1668, and £51 10s on 19 May 1669. Rent 1s 6d, fine 5s.
[This was on the site of 12 Horn Street, and was described as a mill house in 1682]

Richard Phipps surrendered a messuage in Shipton and close adjoining it called Deane Close next to the land of Mr Halloway north. To the use of Thomas Gressam of Solbury Carpenter on condition that the surrender will be void it Richard pays him £59 at the now dwelling house of Robert Lownds called The Angel in Winslow: 30s on 19 Nov next, 19 May and 19 Nov 1667 and 19 Nov 1668, and £51 10s on 19 May 1669. Rent 6d, fine 5s.

Elizabeth Tymes widow surrendered and remised to Ralph Noone all title and interest which she had in a messuage in Winslow late Ralph Udden's.

Richard Edmunds of Winslow gent. surrendered a messuage called The Swanne in Winslow now in the occupation of William Hogson. To the use of Martha Gawdry of Whitchurch spinster, on condition that the surrender will be void if Richard pays her £20 12s on 18 Nov following. Rent 2s, fine 5s.

Richard Edmunds surrendered a piece of land in the parish of Winslow adjoining Richard Shelton's orchard. To the use of Richard Shelton. Rent [blank], fine 6d.

Andrew Campion, clerk, customary tenant, and Robert Lownds another customary tenant and Elizabeth his wife surrendered a messuage with "Shoppes", barns, stables, buildings, yards called or known by the name or sign of "The Angel". To the use of William Emerton of Alberry, Herts, gent., on condition that the surrender will be void if Robert pays him at his dwelling house in Albery £134 8s: £3 12 so on 19 Nov next, 19 May and 19 Nov 1667 and £103 12s on 19 May 1668. Rent 3d, fine 5s.

[f.6v] William Hogson, customary tenant, and Ann his wife and Catharine Hogson late wife of William Hogson deceased surrendered these lands in Winslow:

containing 4 acres and 1 "le yerd". To the use of William Wyat. Rent 1s ¾d, fine 8s 6d.

William Hogson died before this court seised of 4 acres 1 rood in the fields of Winslow. William Hogson is his son and nearest heir. It was further found that a surrender to Thomas Gressam on mortgage is void and the condition of surrender satisfied. William sought admission. Rent 1s ¾d, fine 8s 6d.

[f.7r] Nicolas Spooner on 1 Nov 1665 surrendered by the steward a cottage with close adjoining now in the possession of Mr Harris, and a shop now in the possession of Thomas Spooner, in the parish and vill of Winslow. To his own use for his life, then to Thomas Spooner his son, on condition that Thomas pays Robert Spooner, Nicolas' other son, £30 within a year of Nicolas decease; otherwise the surrender will be to the use of Robert. Rent 1s 4d, fine 10s.

Edward Hogson and Mary his wife surrendered these lands:

Containing 2½ acres. To the use of Peter Lownds. Rent 7½d, fine 5s.

[f.7v] John Crawley surrendered 2 cottages in Winslow. To the use of Christopher Cotes, on condition that the surrender will be void if John pays him £60 and interest at the next view of frankpledge and court baron. Rent 9d, fine 10s.

[f.8r] Christopher Cotes and Alice his wife surrendered 2 cottages in Winslow. To the use of John Crawley. Rent 9d, fine 10s.

Richard Shelton surrendered a messuage in Winslow now in his own occupation (a parcel of land called "A Garden plot" on the east side of the messuage only excepted). To the use of Benedict Gawdry, on condition that the surrender will be void if Richard pays him at his dwelling house in Whitchurch £57 10s: 30s on 19 Nov next, 19 May and 19 Nov 1667 and 19 May 1668 and £51 10s on 19 Nov following. Rent 6d, fine 5s.

William Hogson, customary tenant, and Ann his wife surrendered a half-acre of ley in Winslow in a field there called Nandwich next to the land of Widow Kenniston south and the hedge of Addington Feild west. To the use of William Retchford of Addington Clerk. Rent 1½d, fine 1s.

[f.8v] Christopher Bigg, customary tenant, and Joan his wife surrendered "A Slipp of Grownd" in Winslow next to the land of Thomas Bigg south, containing 18 feet. To the use of Richard Reddell and Damaris his wife. Rent 3d, fine 6d.

Thomas Grassam on 16 Nov 1665 surrendered by John Godwyn and William Morecrof [sic] a cottage in Winslow next to the land of Richard Dering west, and 3 acres in the fields of Shipton:

Edmund Paxton, Wendover Lounds, Richard Rogers and Mary his wife surrendered a messuage in Winslow with yards and "backsides" to the following uses:
The side of the messuage near the dwelling house of John Norman and the kitchen near "the entry of the same side" (the use of the kitchen "to brew" beer excepted) and as much of the yard and "backside" from "the second post" of "the backdore" of the messuage with a direct line to "the post" of "the pales" of John Norman, with free entry etc. with horses, carts and carriages through the "backyard": to the use of Richard and Mary for their lives, then to the use of Christopher Cotes and Alice his wife for their lives, then to Christopher's heirs.
The rest of the messuage and the yards: to the use of Christopher Cotes and Alice his wife for their lives, then to Christopher's heirs.
Rent 1s, fine 5s, heriot by composition 6s 8d.
[This seems to concern 12 High Street (the side mentioned first) and 14 High Street (later the Royal Oak). Mary was Richard Rogers' second wife; his first, Ellen, died in 1640, leaving him with a son, Francis, b.1637.]

William Glenister surrendered a parcel of meadow in the parish of Winslow in a field called Blackgrove in Newleane furlong next to the land of William Townsend west, containing half an acre. To the use of Benedict Glenister. Rent 1½d, fine 1s.

William Hogson is heir to William and Margery Hogson his father and mother late deceased, and heir to 3 acres of land in Winslow field:

William sought admission. Rent 9d, fine 6s.

William Bigg surrendered a messuage or cottage in Winslow in his own occupation. To the use of Thomas Chandler on condition that the surrender will be void if William pays him £23 12s: 24s on 23 Oct 1667 and 1668, and £21 4s on 23 Oct 1669 at Thomas' dwelling house in Winslow. Rent 4½d, fine 5s.

[f.10r] Thomas Graunt surrendered 2 parcels of leys in Winslow field called New Millfield next to his own close, lying next to his own house on the east and the land of William Udding on the west, containing 2 acres. To the use of William Miller of East Claydon Grasier, on condition that the surrender will be void if Thomas pays him £17 14s: 18s on 23 Oct 1667 and 1668, and £15 18s on 23 Oct 1669 at William's dwelling house in East Claydon. Rent 6d, fine 4s.
[This seems to be the land called Grants Baulk near Horn Street which came into William Lowndes' possession in 1716.]

Thomas Mountague surrendered 1 rood of land in Woolland in Millfield in Grandborough. To the use of Thomas Holland in exchange for 1 rood of land in Walbreech in Blackwell field.

Daniel Beadles, customary tenant, and Ann his wife surrendered 2 selions of arable land with hades and hedge containing 1 acre in New Millfield in Norden furlong next to the land of Thomas Halfepenny west. To the use of William Firth jr and the heirs of his body, and for default of such to William Firth sr and Mary his wife and their heirs. William jr sought admission by William sr. Rent 3d, fine 2s.

William Firth, customary tenant, and Mary his wife surrendered a messuage or cottage with buildings, yards, orchard and garden in which Thomas Glenister now lives in Winslow. To the use of Daniel Beadles and Ann his wife for their lives, then to Daniel's heirs. Rent 6d, fine 5s, heriot by composition 6s 8d.
[This was probably in Sheep Street east of The Bell]

[f.10v] John Studsbury previously surrendered among other things a close of pasture in Winslowe once called Mill Close and now called the Bell Close lying in Old Millfield. To the use of William Glenister and Henry Pim as "trustees" to provide portions for his younger children. Andrew Studsbury, son and heir of John, safisfied all sums of money to the younger children in fulfilment of the surrender, and now sought admission. Rent 9d, fine 6s.

containing 2 acres. To the use of Henry Studsbury on condition that the surrender will be void if Andrew pays him at the church porch of Winslow £25 on 23 Oct 1669 and interest every 6 months. Rent 6d, fine 4s.

Thomas Glenister surrendered a messuage or cottage in Winslow now in the occupation of Richard Shelton. To the use of Thomas Bence and Ellen his wife and the heirs of their bodies, and for default of such to the heirs of the survivor. Rent 2d, fine 5s, heriot by composition 1s 6d.

Silvester Claver surrendered these closes of meadow or pasture in the parish of Winslow:

containing 4 acres. To the use of John Smyth of Bottle Cleydon yeoman, on condition that the surrender will be void if Silvester pays him £53 on 22 Oct 1667 at John's dwelling house in Bottle Cleydon. Rent 1s, fine 8s.

On 12 Sep 1666 Mary Ansti Spinster surrendered by John Godwyn and William Moorecroft 1½ acres of meadow in Blackgrove field in Shipton next to the land of William Townesend east and Richard Haynes south. To the use of William Ansly [sic] her brother on condition that he pays to Benjamin Ansley her other brother at the church porch of Winslow £5 within 6 months of Mary's decease. William fulfilled the condition and sought admission. Rent 4½d, fine 3s, heriot by composition 5s.

William Chenall died <since> the last court seised of "a windmill" [ventimola] and 2 acres in Winslow. Ralph Chevull is his elder son and nearest heir and sought admission by Catherine Chevull late wife of William, his guardian. Rent 6d, fine 4s, heriot by composition 10s.
[The windmill was in the possession of the Chinall or Chennells family from at least 1615 to after 1704]
