Will of Elizabeth Allen, widow, 1741 (proved 1743)

In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Allen of Winslowe in the County of Bucks widdow being somewhat weak in body but of sound & perfect mind & memory for which I blesse God Do make this my Last Will & Testament hopeing for Salvation in & through the merritts of my only blessed Saviour Jesus Christ (that is to say) I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Neice \Jane/ Gibbs wife of Stephen Gibbs of Winslowe aforesaid Grocer and to her Sonn Robert Gibbs and to their Heires forever equally to be devided between them All those two freehold Mesuages or Tenements scituate in the Town of Buckingham in the said County of Bucks with all & singular the Appertenncs to the said Mesuages or Tenements or either of them belonging or in anywise Apperteyning now in the severall occupations of John Tims John White & Elizabeth Owen Upon this Condition neverthelesse  And my Will is that the said Jane Gibbs & her said Sonn Robert and the heires shall out of the premises soe Devised to them as aforesaid and out of my Personall \Estate/ herein after given to them pay unto Richard Gibbs & Stephen Gibbs brothers of the above named Robert Gibbs twenty pounds each within twelve months next after my Decease And I do hereby charge as well my said two Mesuages or Tenements in Buckingham as also my Personall Estate with the payment of the same accordingly I Give ... unto Elizabeth William Phillipp & Francis four of the children of James Budd of Winslowe ... Lacebuyer and to their Heires forever equally to be devided between them share and share alike All those my four acres & half one acre of land with the Appertenncs scituate in the Comon Feilds of Buckingham ... with Gawcutt held by copy of Court Roll of the Mannor of the prebend end of Buckingham with Gawcutt ... I haveing already made a Surrender thereof to the Use of my Last Will and in case any or either of them the said William Phillipp & Francis shall happen to dye before he or they attain his or their Age or Ages of twenty one years Then I Give the Share of the said Copyhold Land of him or them so dying unto the said Elizabeth Budd and to her Heires forever I Give to John Worsley of Winslowe ... Carpenter Jane the wife of Thomas Miller Ann the wife of Richard Crosby and to Oliver Mayne Sonn of John Mayne Forty Shillings each to be paid unto them severally within one Year next after my decease by the said Jane Gibbs & Robert Gibbs out of my Personall Estate ... I Give unto Richard Mayne of Winslowe ... Malster all my household goods which are now in his possession but no more Also I Give unto the said Richard Mayne the Eighty pounds he owes me on his bond And do hereby direct my Executrix to deliver to ... Richard Mayne his bond now in my custody for the said eighty pounds to be cancelled I Give unto John Richard Stephen & Robert Sonns of the above named Stephen Gibbs a Gold ring each I also Give to the said Robert Gibbs my Bedstead Bedd and all the bedding belong thereunto \my chest of Drawers/ my brasse pan and my largest pewter dish I Give to William Mayne Sonn of the said Richard Mayne my largest Table & to Ann Mayne Daughter of the said Richard Mayne a Gold ring the posey of itt is (a kiss for this) I Give to Richard Mayne another of the Sonns of ... Richard Mayne my middle Sized pottage pott  I Give to ... Jane Gibbs my Neice All my Wearing Apparell and all the rest of my Household Goods which are now in her possession I Give and Bequeath unto ... Jane Gibbs & Robert Gibbs her Sonn All the rest & residue of my Goods Chattells & Personall Estate whatsoever And I Do make & Appoint ... Jane Gibbs Sole Executrix of this my Will hereby revoking All former Wills by me heretofore made I Do Declare this only to be my Last Will and Testament In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seal this thirtyeth day of November in the Fifteenth year of the Reigne of King George the Second over Great Britain & so forth And in the year of our Lord God 1741

Notes

Elizabeth Alling (sic) was buried at Winslow on 24 Sep 1742. She was the daughter of Richard Worsley (d.1703), bap. 6 Aug 1661; m. Thomas Allen 11 Nov 1694 at Winslow.

Stephen Gibbs married Jane Main (=Mayne) on 11 Sep 1720.

posey: a posy-ring was a finger-ring with a motto engraved inside it (OED); posey / posy = poesy.
