Will of Robert Goadby, 1806 (proved 1807)

In the name of God Amen I Robert Goadby of the Parish of Winslow in the County of Bucks do make and ordain this day my last Will and Testament. After all my debts Funeral Expences and Legacies are paid I give and bequeath to my brother William Goadby of the Parish of St Mary in the Borough of Warwick Whom I Appoint \my/ Executor to this my Will the yearly interest of all the stock I hold in the funds during his life and after the death of the said William Goadby the aforesaid Property shall be divided amongst the Children of the said William Goadby living at the date thereof to each an equal share which they are not to receive until they have attained the age of twenty one years I also give to  the said William Goadby all my wearing \apparel/ with all other goods & my property I do hereby ratify and confirm this but no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twentieth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and six – Robert Goadby [signature] signed sealed declared by the said Robert Goadby as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names – Mary Robinson [signature] Elizabeth Abbott [signature]

This Will was proved at London on the eighteenth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and seven before the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor at Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of William Goadby Brother of the deceased and the sole Executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first sworn duly to administer &c.

[Entry in margin in a different hand reads] On the 16th day of Oct 1816 Adm(inistrati)on (with the Will annexed)  of the Goods Chattels and Credits of Robert Goadby late of the Parish of Winslow in the County of Bucks dec(ease)d left unad(ministered) by William Goadby dec(ease)d whilst living the Bro(the)r Sole Ex(ecut)or and Residuary Legatee named in the said Will was granted to Hannah Goadby the Widow Relict and Administratix of the Goods of the said William Goadby dec(ease)d having been first sworn by Com(missi)on duly to adm(iniste)r the dec(ease)d Ex(ecut)or dying Intestate.


Notes

Robert is recorded (under the name Goodby) as a servant of William Selby (Lowndes) in 1798. He was probably butler at Winslow Hall.
