Will of Frances Hickox, widow, 1902 (proved 1916)

BE IT KNOWN that Frances Hickox of Horn Street Winslow in the County of Bucks Buckingham, widow died on the 23rd day of February 1916 at Horn Street aforesaid
AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament of  the said deceased was proved and registered in the Principal Probate Registry of His Majesty’s Court of Justice, and that administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to Fanny Clara Hickox  of Horn Street aforesaid, Spinster daughter of Deceased one of the Executors named in the said will Charles Richard Steele the other Executor named in the said will having renounced probate thereof

THIS IS THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT of me Frances Hickox of Horn Street Winslow in the County of Bucks Widow of the late Walter Hickox which I make this 31st day of March one thousand nine hundred and two hereby revoking all former wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me and I appoint my daughter Fanny Clara and my friend Charles Richard Steele of Telegraph Street E C Solicitors EXECUTORS of my Will I direct my Executors so soon as is convenient after my decease to pay all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses I give devise and bequeath all my estate and effects of whatsoever kind and wheresoever situate to my Executors Upon trust at their discretion either to retain my estate and effects in the same state of investment as it shall be found at my decease or convert the same into money and to divide the nett proceeds thereof into four equal parts or shares being one part or share for each of my children to whom I give and bequeath the same accordingly without regard to any advancements which have been or may be made by me to any of them during my lifetime and in case any child of mine should die during my lifetime and in case any child of mine should die during my lifetime leaving issue then I declare and direct that part or share of any child so dying shall be retained by my Executors and invested Upon trust for such of my Grandchildren (children of the deceased) as shall attain the age of twenty one years and if there be no such Grandchild then the said part or share shall be divided absolutely among my remaining children equally IN TESTIMONY whereof  I have hereunto set my hand the day and year first above written FRANCES HICKOX Signed by the above named Testatrix as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in her presence and the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses MARIA STUART WYNTER Winslow widow WILLIAM FREDERICK ARMSTRONG The Vicarage Winslow Bucks Clerk in Holy Orders

On the 27th day of March 1916 Probate of this will was granted to Fanny Clara Hickox one of the Executors


Note

Frances Hickox (bap.1832) was the daughter of George Maydon (d.1872) and married Walter Hickox, excise officer. He died at Gerrards Cross in 1896 leaving an estate of £5,126. She returned to Winslow and lived at 20 Horn Street from 1900.
