Notes
Thomas Selby-Lowndes (1810-84) was the second son of William Selby-Lowndes (1767-1840). He was born at Whaddon Hall; Winslow Hall went to his older brother William. He lived at The Bank from at least 1871 but doesn't appear to have owned it. He apparently returned to Winslow after his military career in order to spend his time hunting foxes. The first report below says that he was buried in the Lowndes vault but that is unlikely as the vault was filled in during the restoration of the church.

The service was conducted in a very impressive manner by the Rev. S. T. Adams, rector of Great Horwood. Letters of apology from old friends for unavoidable absence came from the Duke of Grafton, Lord Jersey, and many others. The deceased gentleman was for many years Captain of the 8th King’s Royal Irish Hussars. His long career was marked by a very high sense of honour, and he had won many friends. He was a fine representative of the good old sportsmen of his day, entering into all kinds of sport with great zest. Beautiful wreaths composed of costly flowers, sent by Lady Abercrombie, Mrs. Rushout, and many others, were placed in profusion on the coffin.
