In the name of God amen. On the day of St Matthew the Apostle [21 Sep] in the year written above I Richard Marston of Wynslow, of sound mind, make my will, etc. Item I bequeath to St Laurence there 3d. Item I bequeath to the light of the holy cross 2d. Item to the light of St Mary 2d. To do all this well I ordain and appoint Alice my wife my true executrix so that she may dispose for my soul as she sees best.

Notes

Richard Merston had a wife called Alice when they bought a cottage and 2 acres in 1435 (WMCB p.566), and she was his co-tenant when his death was recorded in 1442 (p.611). They had a son Hugh (d.1464), and she later married William Waryn (p.700).
