This is the last Will and Testament of me Martha Ann Read of Winslow in the County of Bucks Widow I appoint my Brother in-law Edwin Egleton of Winslow aforesaid Grocer and Sarah Rose Egleton his Wife (hereinafter referred to as “my said Trustees”) to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will and Guardians of my infant Children I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said Trustees Upon trust that my said Trustees shall sell call in and convert into money the same or such part thereof as shall not consist of money and shall with and out of the moneys produced by such sale calling in and conversion and with and out of my ready money pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and shall invest the residue of the said moneys with power for my said Trustees from time to time to have discretion to vary such investments. And shall stand possessed of the said residuary trust moneys and the investments for the time being representing the same In trust to pay and apply the income arising therefrom or from the balance from time to time remaining subject to the trusts of this my Will in or towards the maintenance education and advancement of all my children during their minority And upon further trust as and when each child shall reach the age of twenty one years to raise and pay to such child one equal third of the said residuary trust moneys and the investments for the time being representing the same for its own use absolutely And I declare that in the event of the decease of either of my said children under the age of twenty one years but leaving issue such issue shall take and if more than one equally between them the share to which his her or their parent would have ben entitled if living And I declare that in the event of the decease of either of my said children under the age of twenty one years without leaving issue the share of the child so dying shall be divided equally between and among my surviving children as and when they shall severally and respectively attain the age of twenty one years I also declare that all moneys liable to be invested under this my Will may be invested in any stocks funds or securities authorized by law for trust funds or in the purchase of inscribed stock of any British Colony or on Mortgage or real securities in England Lastly I revoke all other Wills In witness whereof I the said Martha Ann Read the Testatrix have hereunto set my hand this Eleventh day of May One thousand eight hundred and ninety four

Dated this Nineteenth day of May 1910.
BE IT KNOWN that Martha Ann Read of Winslow in the County of Buckingham, Widow, who at the time of her death had a fixed place of abode at Winslow aforesaid, within the district of the Counties of Oxford, Berks and Buckingham, died on the 9th day of March 1910 at Winslow aforesaid.
AND BE IT FURTHER KNOWN that at the date hereunder written the last will and Testament of the said deceased was proved and registered in the District Probate Registry of Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice at Oxford, and that administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to Edwin Egleton Retired Grocer and Sarah Rose Egleton (Wife of the said Edwin Egleton) the Sister of the deceased, both of Winslow aforesaid, the Executors named in the said Will

Notes
Martha Ann Read died at the age of 56, 16 years after making her will. In 1901 she was living in Buckingham Road with her father Thomas Rawlins (former landlord of the Station Inn where she was born) and her three children, who were all born in Winslow:
- William J. Read aged 18, carpenter's apprentice
- Ellen Read aged 17, dressmaker on own account
- Florence Emmeline Read aged 15, dressmaker's apprentice
Martha married William George Read in 1881. He was a tailor with a shop in the High Street. He died in 1890 aged 35. In 1911 William jr and Florence were living together in Park Road.
