Will of Robert Stevens, yeoman, 1651

In the name of God Amen I Robert Stevens of Winslowe in the countie of Bucks yeoman being sicke in bodie but in perfect memorie, thankes be given unto Allmightie God doe make \or/ ordaine this my last will and testament in manner, and forme followeinge First I bequeath my soule into the hands of allmightie God my maker and creator, and to Jesus Christ my Saviour and redeemer by whose meritts onelie I hope to be saved, and my bodie to the earth Concerninge my worldlie estate as followeth Item I give unto my Sonne Robert Stevens the sum(m)e of five poundes of current English monie to be paid unto him at the age of foureteene yeares to the placeinge of him to bee an apprentice  Also I give also unto him the biggest brasse pott, a paire of racks iron to be delivered unto him when hee cometh to the age of one and twentie yeares  Item I give unto my eldest daughter Anna by name one ioyned Cubboard and one Coffer to be delivered unto her when shee cometh to the age of eighteene yeares  Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth my longest table and frame and one Coffer, when shee cometh to the age of eighteene yeares  Item I give unto my daughter Hanna one chest, and one greater pewter platter to be delivered unto her when shee cometh to the age of eighteene years  Item I give unto my daughter Sarah fortie shillings of currant Englishe money to be paid unto her when shee cometh to the age of Eighteene yeares  Item I give unto my daughter Marie fortie shillings of like English money to be paid unto her when shee cometh to the age of eighteene years  Item I give unto my daughter Hester the som(m)e of fortie shillings of like Englishe money to be paid unto her when shee cometh to the age of eighteene yeares   Item all other my goods, cattells, and chattells moveable and unmoveable quicke and dead of what sort or kinde soever they be I give and bequeath unto my loveinge wife Hannah whome I doe make my full and sole executrix of this my last will and and testament  In witness hereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seal  Dated  the sixe and twentieth daye of October in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred  fiftie and one Roberte Stevens Witnes hereunto Daniell Sayer  Richard Hodgkine Nicho: Brinsall

The Will above written was approved at London before Sir Nathaniell Brent Knight Docter of Lawes Maister or keeper of the prerogative Court The third day of December in the year of our Lord God one thousand six hundred fiftie one by the oath of Hanna Stevens the relict of the said deceased, and sole executrix named in the said will to whom was committed administrac(i)on of all and singular the goods chattells and debts of the said deceased shee being first specially[?] sworne \by commission/ well and faithfully to administer the same.


Notes

Robert Stevens was buried at Winslow on 31 Oct 1651. In 1648 he sold a large holding in Shipton (a messuage and 38 acres) to Hugh Stevens. These baptisms of his children were recorded (his wife's original name was Hannah Ashby, and her first name is sometimes given as Anne):
