In the name of God Amen the sixteenth day of August 1617 and in ffifteenth yere of the Raigne of o(ur) Sovraigne Lord James by the grace of god of Greate Britaine Fraunce and Ireland kinge defender of the Faith &c I William Varney \the elder/ of Shuckloe in the p(ar)ishe of Littell Harwod in the countie of Bucks miller being sicke in bodie but of p(er)fect memorie thanks be given to God doe ordeyne and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge First I bequeath my soule to Allmightie God my Creator & only Saviour in whom and by whom I trust to be saved And my bodie to be buried in the Churchyarde of Littell Harwod aforesaid. Ite(m) I give to the Churche of Littell Harwod two shillings Ite(m) I give to the poore of the same p(ar)ish two shilling It(e)m I give to Henry Varney my sonne and heire my two howses and my land uppo(n) this condition that Jane Varney my wife his mother shall have my dwelling howse during her naturrall lyfe It(e)m I give to Will(ia)m Varney my second sonne all my wearing Apparrell and sixe pounds of currant money of England to be payd unto him sixe yeres after my decease It(e)m I give to John Varney my yongest sonne twentie and one poundes of lawfull Englishe money as by bonde more plainly appereth uppo(n) condition to pay thereout unto his two Sisters namely Annis and Fraunces Varney sixe pounds of lawfull money of England that is to pay three pounds a peece at the day of there marriage or w(it)hin two yeeres after my decease It(e)m I give to Jane Hacke my daughter xii d to be given her after my decease, It(e)m I give Joane Varney my yongest daughter Fower pounds of lawfull money of England to be payd unto her Five yeres after my decease as by bond more plainlie doth appere. Lastly I give to Jane Verney my wife all my moveables and unmoveables of what kinde soever they be that are unbequeathed and not given to have them to her owne use fo long as she lyveth, and at her death to dispose them to whom she shall thinke good also my will is that whatsoever goods or things Jane Varney my wife shall give and bestowe at her death to any of her chilldren they shall peaceablie and quietly enjoy[?] and carry away w(it)hin one halfe yere after my decease w\ithout/ any deniall or contradiction, And Further I make Jane Varney my wife my sole and whole executrix to see this my will p(er)formed, my debts payd, my funerall discharged, and my bodie semely brought to the charchge, to conclude I doe appoint Richard Cooper and John Willett of Littell Harwod yeomen my ov(er)seers to see this my will p(er)formed in all things and for theire paines taking I give them vi d a peece In wittnes whereof I the sayd William Varney have hereunto sett my hande the day and yeare abovewritten - wittnesses hereunto John Robinson, vicar, Rooke Mascail, and John Mason.
