Will of William White, retired huntsman, 1885 (proved 1891)

This is the last Will and Testament of me William White of Winslow in the County of Bucks formerly Huntsman and now retired I bequeath to my daughter Eliza Nash the legacy of One hundred pounds and to my daughter Sarah Millward the legacy of Twenty pounds which legacies I direct shall be paid to them respectively within three calendar months next after my decease I devise unto my sister in law Lea White wife of my late Brother Rosamen White and her assigns for her life the Cottage in Little Horwood in which she now resides with the garden and ground now occupied by her with the same Cottage she and they keeping the  Cottage and buildings in good and tenantable repair And from and after her decease I devise the same Cottage garden and grounds unto my Son George White his heirs and assigns absolutely I devise all the residue of the real estate to which I shall be beneficially entitled and I bequeath the residue of my personal estate to which I shall be then entitled unto my said Son George White his heirs executors administrators and assigns subject nevertheless to the payment of my just debts my funeral and testamentary expenses I appoint my friends George Ingram of Winslow aforesaid Butcher and George Egleton of the same place Grocer Executors of my Will and revoke all other Wills In Witness whereof I the said William White the Testator have hereunto set my hand the Ninth day of November in the year One thousand eight hundred and eighty five

Signed by the said Testator as his last Will the same having been read over to him in our presence with his mark in the presence of us present at the same time in his presence and at his request in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses

Proved at Oxford the Twentieth day of November 1891, by the Oath of George Egleton, one of the Executors, to whom Administration was granted. George Ingram the other Executor named in the Will having renounced the Probate and execution thereof
The Testator William White was late of Winslow in the County of Buckingham, a retired Huntsman, and died on the Twenty sixth day of June 1891, at Winslow aforesaid.

BE IT KNOWN  that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament of William White late of Winslow in the County of Buckingham, a retired Huntsman, deceased, who died on the 26th day of May 1891, at Winslow aforesaid, and who at the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at Winslow aforesaid within the District of the Counties of Oxford, Berks and Buckingham, was proved and registered in the District Probate Registry of Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice at Oxford and that Administration of the personal estate of the said deceased was granted to  George Egleton of Winslow aforesaid, Grocer, one of the Executors named in the said Will, he having been first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same. George Ingram the other Executor having renounced the Probate and execution thereof.

Notes

William White was aged 82 when he died. He was born at Little Horwood, and in 1891 was living with his son George White in Station Road. In 1861 he was living at the Nag's Head with his wife Hannah and two daughters, and called himself a horse breaker. They left in 1864, and in 1871 he was a publican at Old Bradwell. In 1881 he was a widower living alone at Little Horwood.
