In, etc. 21 Oct 1461 I John Whyth of Wynselowe of healthy mind [ - - - ] and my body to be buried in the graveyard of St Laurence of the same. Item I bequeath to the high monastery of St Albans 4d. Item I bequeath to the altar of the Blessed Laurence 1 bushel of barley. Item I bequeath to the other altars 4 bushels of barley. Item to the light of the Holy Cross 2 bushels of barley. Item to the torches [ - - ] of barley. Item I bequeath for the work of the porch 20d. Item for the work of the north aisle 20d. Item to Richard Tomlen my godson 4d. [ - - ] to do this well & faithfully I ordain, make & appoint Alice my wife, William Perkyn & William Ev(er)ysden my [executors]. The residue I give & bequeath to my executors etc.

Notes

John Wight (as his name was usually written) regularly served as a juror at the manor court in the 1440s and 1450s.

"The high monastery" is probably a copyist's error for the high altar at Winslow and the monastery at St Albans. Many people left money for the church porch around this time but no other wills mention work in the north aisle.
