In the name of God Amen I John Worsley of Winslow in the County of Bucks Carpenter being att p(re)sent surprized with sicknesse and not knoweing how itt will please God to dispose of me for Life or Death but wholly submitting myself to his Blessed Will and humbly with hearty sorrow for my sinns recommending my soul into the hands of my Grazious God trusting for salvation by and through the Meritts of the Death and Passion of my Lord & only Saviour Jesus Christ as touching my Wordly Estate Doe make my last Will and Testament as followeth

Imp(rim)is Whereas I have made or Intend to make a surrend(er) of All those Four Tenem(en)ts in Winslowe afores(ai)d now in the sev(er)all occupacons of Alice Guest Richard Worsley Robert Brincklowe and William Ridyard their Assigne or Assignes And One Acre of Grass Ground lying in Nant Ditch furlong in Winslowe afore(sai)d \which said acre is/Expectant upon the Decease of Ann my wife with\the app(ur)ten(anc)es thereto belonging/ To such Use Intents and Purposses as are or should be limitted Directed & Appointed in and by my last Will and Testament Now as for and concerning the same I Give & Dispose thereof as followeth Impri(mi)s I Give Devise & Bequeath unto my eldest Sonn John Worsley All the said Four Tenements & the said Acre of sward Ground Expectant as aforesaid to the use of my said Sonn John and his heires forever Item I Give & Bequeath unto my Daughter Jane the sum(m)e of Forty pounds to be paid unto her when she shall attain the age of Four and Twenty yeares by my Executrix herein after menc(i)oned Item All the Rest and Residue of Goods Chattells and Personall Estate whatsoever I Give and Dispose thereof to my loving Wife Ann Worsley whome I make full and sole Executrix of this my last Will hereby Revokeing all former Wills by me heretofore made and doe Declare this only to be <my> Last Will & Testament In Wittnesse whereof I have to this my Last Will & Testament contained in one sheet of paper sett my hand & seal this Tenth Day of May Anno D(omi)ni 1711 Annoq(ue) R(eg)ni R(egi)ne Anne nunc Magne Britannie &c Decimo

The total should be £70 10s 8d.


Notes

John Worsley was buried on 16 May 1711. There seem to have been two men called John Worsley or Worstly active at the same time; the other was a labourer and had a wife called Elizabeth. John's father was Riichard Worstley, carpenter (d.1703). John was bap. 24 Jan 1675. He married Anne, daughter of Richard Letman and heiress of The Bull, on 12 Nov 1699. She made further arrangements for their children at the 1711 manor court; their youngest daughter Ann was born 4 months after John's death. These are the children of John and Anne:
