Due to the lord as the common fine from the Inhabitants of Winslow 16s 4d, Shipton 8s 4d, Grandborough 11s 4d, Little Horwood 12s 4d, Oveing and North Marston 26s 8d.

There is a deep pitt sunk near the common foot path leading from Winslow to Grandborough Brook which is very dangerous to all people passing thereby and the same ought to be filled up by Joseph Bull within one month under penalty of 10s.

Thomas Carter of Stratton Hartley Bucks [sic] and Elizabeth his wife, late Elizabeth Eden widow of Robert Eden (she being a customary tenant) surrendered a messuage (now two tenements) in Great Horn Street in the several occupations of [blank] Redding widow and John Adams, the messuage of Richard Eden west, the messuage of Ann Firth infant east. To the use of Thomas and Elizabeth. Rent 4½d, fine 5s.
[This seems to have been on the site of 32-34 Horn Street]

[f.1v] William Cross of Bow Brickhill Labourer surrendered a cottage called the Little House in Winslow in the occupation of John Parker. To the use of John Parker of Winslow Labourer and Ann his wife for their lives, then to John's right heirs. Rent 3d, fine 5s, heriot by composition for this time only 1s.

It was testified by Robert Adams gent. deputy steward that Thomas Blake the elder of Winslow gent., customary tenant, and Elizabeth his wife on 19 Feb last surrendered several peices and parcels of arable land and sweard ground in the common fields of Winslow containing 7 acres:

To the use of Robert Blake of Winslow Baker, one of Thomas' sons. Rent [blank], fine 14s. Immediately after Robert surrendered to the use of John Barton of Winslow Taylor, provided alwaies and upon Condicon that if he pays unto John Barton as Trustee under the will of Richard Barton late of Stewkley deceased £40 and interest on 27 Oct 1749 the surrender to be void.

It was testified by Robert Adams gent. deputy steward that Nicholas Merwin gent. and Susanna his wife, customary tenants, on 17 June last surrendered All that peice of ground or Garden plott in the occupation of Michael Goodman lying on the southside of the Parsonage Close in Winslow containing 1 rod, the ground of Widow Scott south west.

John Pitkin and Mary his wife and John Cox of Winslow surrendered a messuage and 10 acres in Grandborough to Thomas Allom.

William West of Winslow Yeoman surrendered a messuage in Great Horn Street with a barn containing two bays and the little yard, now in the occupation of Thomas Bowler. To the use of Thomas Bowler of Winslow Wheelwright his heirs and assigns forever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever. Rent 2d, fine 5s.

Thomas Bowler customary tenant and Mary his wife surrendered All their share of a peice of land lying in Shipton field lately Inclosed by act of parliament lately made and now laid down with Grass seeds containing about 4 acres and the whole peice was allotted for the said Thomas and his two Brothers Charles Bowler and John Bowler and his two sisters Frances wife of Richard Eden and Ann Elliott widow on the late Inclosure of Shipton Field. To the use of Charles Bowler brother of Thomas Bowler. Rent [blank], fine 8s.

Thomas Blake and Richard Eden surrendered a messuage in Great Horn Street late in the occupation of William Kingston and now of William Prentice. To the use of John Scott of Winslow Butcher (eldest son of Elizabeth Scott who was daughter of Humfrey Reddall deceased). Rent [blank], fine 5s.
[This must have been under the will of Humphrey Reddall (see 1744 court). The property was in Church Street.]

It was testified by the Steward that Richard Carter of Little Munden Herts, Clerke, and Mary his wife, customary tenants, on 10 June last surrendered two Messuages (heretofore one Messuage) situate together in Great Horn Street then late in the occupation of John Adams and Richard Oliver, and now in the occupation of William Blake Currier, lying next to the Messuage now or late of Robert Evans in the occupation of Robert Warr, with all Houses Outhouses Edifices Buildings Barns Stables Yards Backsides etc. To which premisses
[f.2v] (Amongst other things) Richard and Mary were admitted at a Special Court Baron on 17 Dec 1742. To the use of William Blake of Winslow Currier his heirs and Assigns forever and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever. Rent [blank], fine 5s.
Immediately after William Blake surrendered All that one Messuage (heretofore two Tenements) in Great Horn Street late in the occupation of John Adams and Richard Oliver and now of Robert Blake Baker, lying next to the Messuage late of Robert Evans in the occupation of Robert Warr. To the use and behoof of Robert Blake for his life, then to the use of Martha his wife for her life, then to the use of the first son of Robert on the body of Martha to be begotten and the heirs of the body of such first son, and for default of such Issue then to the use of the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and all and every other the sons ... And for default of such issue to the use of all and every the daughter or daughters as Tenants in common. And for default of such issue to the use of the right heirs of Robert Blake forever. Rent [blank], fine 10s.

Thomas Harding Rowland Clerke died sometime since seised of a messuage in Winslow heretofore called the Angel Inn in the occupation of Sarah Foster widow, with all Houses Outhouses Buildings Barns Stables Yards etc. (sometime since surrendered by Thomas Foster to George Rowland Surgeon deceased, Thomas Rowland's father, and to which Thomas was admitted at a Court Baron on 20 Oct 1729 as son and heir of George). Whereby there happned to the Lord for an Heriot by composition 5s. George Rowland an infant of the age of [blank] is his only son and next heir. Now at this Court comes George the Infant in his own proper person and prayed of the Lord to be admitted Tenant. Seisin was granted subject to the condition in the surrender. Rent 4d,
[f.3r] fine 5s, heriot by composition 5s. Because he is an infant aged 8 custody of the person and premisses is committed to Ann Mayor his next friend who is admitted Guardian.

Elizabeth Burnham widow since the last court died seised of a messuage in Sheepstreet in the occupation of Augustine Seaton Carpenter whereby there happned to the Lord for an Heriot [blank]. William Burnham of Winslow Gardiner is her only son and next heir and of full age. Seisin granted. Rent 1d, fine 5s, heriot by composition 5s. Immediately after William surrendered the messuage to the use of William Stockley of Winslow Joyner. Fine 5s, heriot by composition 1s.
[Elizabeth's death was actually reported in 1744. She was probably the widow of Moses Burnham, d.1732.]

William West of Winslow Yeoman prayed to be admitted to 3 lands lying together in the Hollow Furrow field of Winslow containing 1 acre with a Brick kiln thereon together with all Outhouses Edifices Buildings Barns Stables and 3 ridges of land in Anchor Furlong at Parsonage Plank Highway. They came into the lord's hands on the surrender of Robert Stevens of Winslow Brickmaker dated 11 May 1737 presented at the court on 17 Oct following. Seisin was granted subject to the condition in the surrender. Rent [blank], fine 5s.

Peter Goldsworth the younger gent. only son and heir of Peter Goldsworth the elder his late father prayed to be admitted to all and every the Copyhold Messuages in Winslow late in the several occupations of Thomas Hogson, Benjamin Quarringdon and John Turner, and now or late of Sarah Quarringdon, Richard Clements and John Bly, which came into the lord's hands upon the surrender of Thomas Hogson dated 6 March 1737 to the said Peter the elder and presented at the Court Baron on 25 Oct 1738 for securing payment of £25 12s 6d . Seisin was granted subject to the condition in the surrender. Rent [blank], fine 5s. Immediately after, Peter the son and Sarah Quarringdon surrendered a Messuage (now two Tenements) in the occupation of John Bly and Richard Clements adjoining to Hob Houchin Lane west, with garden and backside as the same is now paled or fenced out with pales round the same premisses above mencioned. To the use of Christopher Bigg of Winslow Blacksmith and Alice his wife. Rent [blank], fine 10s.
Immediately afterwards Peter Goldsworth the son surrendered the messuage in the occupation of Sarah Quarringdon with Orchard adjoining to Hob Houchin Lane and the land of the Lord lying towards the east. To the use of Sarah Quarringdon.

Rebeccah Morris Spinster and Ann Verney wife of William Verney of [blank] daughters and coheirs of John Morris of Grandborough their late father sought admission to a messuage in Grandborough and various land. William Verney and Ann his wife surrendered their undivided moiety to Rebeccah.

John Norman surrendered all his copyhold to the use of his will.

Ferdinando Southam gent. surrendered all his copyhold to the use of his will.

Joseph Weston of Little Horwood customary tenant and Mary his wife surrendered an inclosed peice of pasture ground called the Angel Close being at a place called Cross Lane in the [manuscript ends]

The Court Baron of the Honourable Richard Lownes Esquire there holden the three and twentieth day of November in the twenty second year of the reign of King George the Second of Great Britain &c and in the Year of our Lord 1748 by Robert Adams gentleman  Deputy Steward there

At this Court the Homage aforesaid present that Robert Seaton a Younger Son of John Seaton deceased dyed before the last Court and that Joseph Seaton is his Brother and Heir And now at this Court came the said Joseph Seaton (Eldest Son and Heir of John Seaton who was the Elder Brother of Robert Seaton of Peterborough which said Joseph Seaton is also the Elder Brother and Heir of the said Robert Seaton another Son of the said John) and prayed to be admitted tenant to the Revertion  Expectant upon the decease of Elizabeth Seaton Widow and Relict of the said Robert Seaton of Peterborough to one Messuage or Tenement with a little cottage               thereto adjoyning now in the Occupation of John Blake or his Assigns and to fourteen Acres and an half of Arable land meadow and pasture Ground with the appurtenances in the Occupation of the said John Blake held of the said Mannor which came into the hands of the Lord of the said Mannor upon the Surrender of the said Elizabeth and John Watts and the death of the said Robert Seaton the Brother Which said Joseph present here in Court desires to be admitted Tennant to the Revertion of the said premises to whom the Lord by his Steward aforesaid granted thereof Seizin by the Rodd To hold to the said Joseph Seaton and his heirs forever by the Rodd at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the Mannor aforesaid by the Rent of                              by the yeare Suit of Court Herriott and other Services therefore antiently due and of Right accustomed and he gave to the Lord for a Fine twenty nine shillings did fealty and was admitted Tenant

Also at this Court came the said Joseph Seaton and Mary the Wife of the said Joseph Customary Tenants of the same Mannor She the said Mary being first soley and Secretly examined by the said Robert Adams Deputy Steward of the said Manor and in Open Court by the rodd did Surrender into the Hands of the Lord of the said Mannor by the hands of the said Steward according to the Custom of the said Mannor The Revertion Expectant upon the decease of Elizabeth Seaton Widow and Relict of Robert Seaton late of Peterborough deceased of in and to all that Messuage or Tenement with a little Cottage thereto adjoining now in occupation of John Blake his undertenants or Assigns with all those Several peices and parcells of Arrable Land ley meadow and Pasture Ground lying and being in the Com(m)on fields of Winslow aforesaid containing by estimation fourteen acres and a half be the same more or less herein after particularly mentioned that is to say In New Mill Field one close of Pasture Ground at long Mead leys containing Six acres the Land of Mr Guy lying on the East part thereof One acre of arrable land lying together at Hog leys the land of Mr Lowndes lying on the West side thereof One acre of arrable land in                    Furlong a Close of Mr Lowndes called Horse mead peice lying on the South part thereof In Demeram Field one half acre of Arrable land lying at Bradford the land of Richard Eden lying on the West side thereof of One acre of arrable land lying together in the same Field the land of Mr Guy lying on the South part thereof In Old Mill Field One acre of Arrable Land lying together in Old Mill furlong the land of Mr Lowndes lying on the East and West parts thereof One acre of Arrable Land lying together in         Furlong  called the Hog acre the Land of Mr Lowndes lying on the West part thereof half an acre of arrable Land lying at Costell the land of Mr Lowndes lying on the North and South parts thereof One acre more of Arrable land shooting into Hollow Furrow the land of Mr Lowndes lying on the West part thereof One Butt of Arrable Land shooting into Hollow Furrow the land of Richard Eden lying on the North part One acre of Arrable land lying together being four Ridges Mr Lowndes on both sides One ley containing a Rood in Hollow Furrow the land of Mr Guy lying on the North part thereof Together with all houses outhouses barns stables yards Orchards gardens hades hedges ditches trees underwood hades baulks Furrows Freeboards Com(m)ons and appurtenances thereto belonging To the use and behoofe of Nicholas Merwin of Winslow aforesaid Gent his Heirs and assigns forever Which said Nicholas Merwin present here in Court desired to be admitted Tenant to the said Revertion of the same premises to whom the Lord by his Steward aforesaid granted thereof Seizin by the Rod To Hold to the said Nicholas Merwin his heirs and assigns forever by the Rod at the Will of the Lord according to the Custom of the Mannor aforesaid by the rent of                                 by the Year Suit of Court Herriott and other services therefore anciently due and of right accustomed and he gave to the Lord for a Fine twenty nine shillings did his Fealty and was admitted Tenant
