Notes

John Dudley was the son of Benjamin Dudley, draper (d.c.1790) and his wife Jane Greaves, originally of Wingrave (married in 1739). His grandfather was Winslow's first Benjamin Dudley (d.1742). He moved his family's drapery business to 15 Market Square in 1778. He handed it over to his elder son in 1801 which is how he was able to style himself gentleman when he made his will. His children mentioned in the will were:

William Dudley (d.1796) was his brother and Goldsworth Dudley (d.1779) and Joseph Dudley (d.1799) were his nephews.
