Notes
George Dunkley died on 11 Oct 1893 aged 68. He was originally from Blisworth, and is first recorded in Winslow in the 1851 Census as an agricultural labourer. His wife Elizabeth (nee Goode), also from Blisworth, was a milliner and dressmaker. At the time he made his will he was working as assistant to Joshua Lewin French. He was also agent for Royal Fire Insurance by 1864. In the 1881 Census he and his wife had gone to Fenny Stratford where he was a grocer and insurance agent, and four of their children were still in Winslow living in Church Street. George and Elizabeth were back in Winslow by 1887. As well as insurance he did some farming, and the 1891 Census also lists him as "beer [?]dealer". Elizabeth died in 1894 aged 70 (see her will). The property put up for sale by George Wigley on 18 June 1895 consisted of:
- two houses and a cottage in Church Street, brick-built and slated (now nos.14-16); acquired from William Matthews and W.H. Lomath in 1870
- a stable yard and buildings in Horn Street (at the rear of no.9 and the Congregational Church), enfranchised 1884
- a plot of building ground in "Park Street" (Park Road), acquired from George Wigley in 1892
- a house in Mursley with stabling, coach-house and large walled garden
- two cottages and a blacksmith's shop in North Marston
The main beneficiary of Elizabeth's will was her daughter Fanny Eliza Hannah Dunkley (b.1856), listed in the 1891 Census as a milliner and dressmaker. In 1895 she married James Cook, a farmer at Bletchley. The death of Alfred Lloyd Dunkley was registered at Newport Pagnell in 1900. Benjamin the other son mentioned was a saddler at Fenny Stratford.
