Will of Mary Turnbull, widow, 1792 (proved 1799)

In the Name of God Amen I Mary Turnbull of Winslow in the County of Bucks Widow being weak in Body but of sound and disposing mind and memory (for which I bless God) do this Twenty eighth day of November in the year of our Lord Christ One thousand seven hundred and Ninety two make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First and principally with all Humility I resign my Soul to Almighty God who gave it and my Body to be buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named And as to such Temporal Estate wherewith it hath pleased the Divine providence to bless me I dispose of the same as follows (that is to say)  First I give and devise unto my son John Turnbull All that my Copyhold Messuage or Tenement situate and being in Winslow aforesaid wherein I now dwell with all and every the rights members and Appurtenances thereunto belonging To hold the same unto and to the use of my said Son John Turnbull his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Turnbull the Legacy or Sum of Three hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to her by my Executor hereinafter named in manner following (that is to say) One hundred pounds part thereof to be paid to her within twelve Months next after my decease, the further sum of One hundred pounds other part thereof to be paid to her within two years next after my decease and the further Sum of One hundred pounds residue thereof to be paid to her within three years next after my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Elizabeth Turnbull the Bed Bedstead Curtains and Bedding on which she lies my Chest of Drawers and Table in the Back Chamber, four pair of Sheets, three pair of Pillow Cases, the Great Chair and six small Chairs and Tea Table in my Bed Chamber, my best Bed Quilt half of all my China, my Watch and one half part of all my Plate to and for her sole use and benefit And Lastly as to for and concerning all the rest and residue of my Goods Chattels ready money Debts

[p.2] And Securities for mo(ne)y plate Household Goods Stock in Trade Merchandize and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be and not otherwise by this my Will given or disposed of as aforesaid (after payment of the aforementioned Legacy or Sum of Three hundred pounds my debts and funeral Expences) I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said son John Turnbull his Executors Administrators and Assigns to and for his and their own use absolutely And I do hereby direct that an Inventory of my Household Goods and Stock in Trade be taken immediately after my decease and signed and subscribed by my Executor and Trustees hereinafter named And I do hereby ordain Constitute and appoint my said Son John Turnbull sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and do likewise Constitute and appoint my good Friends Thomas Ingram of the parish of Winslow aforesaid Dairyman and Thomas Tompkins of Goddington in the County of Oxford Dairyman Trustees of this my Will to see the same performed and do earnestly request and desire them that they will be every way aiding and Assisting to my said Son and Daughter And I do also further ordain and appoint the said Thomas Ingram and Thomas Tompkins to have the Government and Tuition of my said Son John Turnbull during his Minority And I do hereby revoke all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made and do publish and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Mary Turnbull have to this my Will contained in two Sheets of paper to the first sheet thereof set my hand only and to the second and last my hand and Seal the day and year first within written.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Mary Turnbull the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto Subscribed our Names as Witnesses thereto at the request and in the presence of the said Testatrix and also in the presence of each other.
