Will of Richard Shelton, yeoman, 1625

In the name of god Amen. The xxjth Daye of October in the yeare of our Lord
god 1625 And in the first yeare of the Reigne of our sovereigne Lord Charles by
the grace of god of England Scotland Franc(e) and Ireland Kinge Defender of
the fayth &c I Richard Shelton of Wynslowe in the Countye of Bucks yeoman
beinge of p(er)fitt mynde and memory thankes be geven to god I do make and ordeyne
this my last will and Testament in maner and forme following. First I bequeath
my Soule to Almighty god, and my body to be buried in the p(ar)ish church yarde
of Wynslowe aforesaid, Ite(m) I give and bequeath to my Daughter Agnes Forty pounds
of lawfull English monie And a cupboard a bedstede and a fetherbedd a paire of
blankquetts a Cov(er)lit six paire of sheetes two bolsters two pillowes and a great kettell
a little table and a forme and fowre platters Ite(m) I give and bequeath to my
daughter Elizabeth fortye pounds of lawfull money of England a bedsteed and a
featherbedd a Cov(er)litt and a paire of blankquetts two bolsters a pillow and paire fowre
\paire/ of sheetes fowre platters and a brasse pan the mony to be Delivered to her at hir
age of eighteen yeares, And if it happen the said Elizabeth to Dye before the
time expired the monie to be Devided amonge the Rest of my Children. Item
I give to Lawrens my sonne five pounds of lawfull monie of England. Item
I give to Robert my sonne fortye shillings Ite(m) I give to Will(ia)m my sonne
and his children the monie that he oweth me which is six poundes and eighteen
shillings Item I give to Robarts children Two of my best sheepe Item I
give to Richard my sonne fortye poundes to be paid him at the age of one and
twenty yeares and yf the said Richard dy before the tyme expired the monye
to be equallie devided betwixt my other children Ite(m) I make my sonne
John my full and whole executor giving him all my lands and goodes
unbequeathed my Debts and legacies Discharged. witnesses William

Notes
Richard Shelton (bap. 12 Dec 1565) was the son and heir of John Shelton, yeoman, d.1601. See the will of his stepmother and mother-in-law Frances (d.1607) for details of his children. He also had Richard (bap. 27 Sep 1606) and Elizabeth (1 Sep 1611). Richard was buried on 19 Nov 1625 and his wife Alice on 21 Oct 1620. According to the 1610 schedule he held a messuage and 55 acres of land.
